Thad Beckman
has been a professional musician for over 25years. In that time
he has kept up a steady schedule of performing, touring (USA and
Europe), recording (5 solo albums) and teaching. He studied with
Jim Thomas (guitar player for Ray Charles) for two years while
attending classes in classical and jazz theory at Fort Steilacoom
College. He has worked with Bo Diddley, The Shirelles, John
McEuen (The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band) and opened for many of
the top names in American music, Emmy Lou Harris, The Band,
B.B. King and Dan Hicks, to name a few. Thad works well with
beginners in all styles and specializes in designing lessons to
fit the needs of the student. He emphasizes having fun while learning.
Thad also works with intermediate to advanced students in: Blues,
Traditional and Contemporary Folk, Fingerpicking, Flatpicking,
Americana, Slide guitar, Country, Ragtime and songwriting.

Tim
has a B.A. in Music Education with Masters work in the area
of music composition. Guitar experience: playing all styles
of music for 40 years; teaching guitar for 32 years; singer
and songwriter for 32 years. Music styles able to teach: Blues,
Jazz, Rock, Alternative, Folk, and beginning to intermediate
Classical music. Ages able to teach: 6 years old through Adult.
Ability levels: beginning through advanced. Tim has been a solo artist
and been able to bring together various ensembles for performance.
He has also helped to organize youth bands of various sizes
and musical styles in his years of teaching. Tim is currently
playing solo in the Portland area at various coffee houses and
dining areas. He has recorded 5 CD's and is working on a new
project at this time. Tim is also able to teach group lessons
from 2 people up to 12 in a class. Special rates would be negotiated

A local professional
for many years, Steve is grounded in 50's and 60's rock. Also
offered are blues and fingerpicking folk styles. Roots type music
is fun to play and also provides excellent foundation for any
musical direction the player may wish to go. Besides the basics
of getting started with the instrument, learning to provide "the
groove" or rhythm guitar is pursued as well as learning to improvise
lead lines. Beginning through advanced players.

State University, Ryan graduated with a B.A. in Psychology and
Philosophy, and in 2002, he completed the course work for a Bachelor
of Music in Performance with a Jazz Emphasis. As a player, his
recording and performance credits include Portlandâs own Coge
as well as Gruesome Galore, Wyatt Herb: Tex-Mex Reggae, Harrison,
Julie Larson, Sarah Jane Burke, and many others. Lessons are tailored
to the individual and are available to students of all ages and
experience levels. |

Jung
is an experienced teacher who is currently teaching in public
and private schools throughout the Portland area. She has taught
various age levels from preschool through middle school to adult
and is experienced both in group and in private instruction.
Although trained in the Suzuki Method, she incorporates various
methodologies into her lessons. Both technique and theory are
emphasized. Note: Although Jung is experienced working with
various ages, she will need to personally talk with parents
who are interested in lessons for any child under the age of
seven.

Annie
Harkey has been playing the cello for 18 years. She received
a Bachelor of Science in Music from the University of Oregon
in 1999 and moved to Portland in 2000. In addition to being
a private cello instructor through Portland Music Company, she
teaches beginning and intermediate band classes through the
M.U.S.E. band program. Miss Harkey's teaching focuses primarily
on building a foundation through proper technique and form in
classical studies, but she also likes to explore improvisation
in varying styles such as celtic, folk, and jazz with her students.

As a native of Portland Oregon, Randy Burlingame has taught hundreds of young musicians how to reach their musical goals. Teaching in numerous music programs that include; The Cultural Recreation Program, The Accelerated Music Program, and The North Portland Music Academy. In 1998 he established a small ensembles and recital program at Mt. Hood Community College. Presently Randy is the band director at Trinity Lutheran School in Portland, teaching a 4th through 8th grade band program.
As a professional musician for over 30 years, Randy has played in many groups and settings from symphonic to jazz, including his own groups- The Burly Jazz Trio and The Burly Jazz Ensemble.
With 40 years playing experience, and over 20 years teaching experience, it’s important to him each student achieve the skills required to be successful in their own musical endeavor.
